Educational and reading difficulties are becoming more recognised and there are many ways your Optometrist can help.

We have a dyslexia-screening programme, which is simple to run and interpret.

All children examined in the practice are offered this test as part of their eye examination – at no extra cost.

If a problem is detected we can continue the dyslexia test using coloured filters to see if we can improve reading performance and visual comfort.

We can then prescribe tints in the form of spectacles or overlays or even by giving advice on VDU use.

Of course this service is also available for adults. Discrete and kept completely confidential, so please don’t hesitate to approach the practice for help and advice.

I am hoping in the near future to extend this service into local schools – to do screening on site. If you are a teacher, parent or school governor (or all three!!)
